Northern Highway - Epping - Kilmore Road (Wandong Road) roundabout Kilmore
We’re preparing for the construction of a dual-lane roundabout at the intersection of the Northern Highway and Epping-Kilmore Road (Wandong Road) near Kilmore.
Planned
The dual-lane roundabout is specifically designed to meet the future needs of the intersection and the growing demand on the network in Mitchell Shire and surrounds.

Update - April 2025
Land acquisition required for the construction of the Northern Highway-Epping-Kilmore Road (Wandong Road) roundabout has been completed.
Our crews will be on site from early May to begin service relocation works. These works are expected to take several months. There will be minimal disruption to road users while these works are completed.
We expect construction of the roundabout to begin late 2025/early 2026. Details of construction timing and impacts will be updated once confirmed.
Overview
In 2020 the Victorian Government announced $12 million to develop and build a roundabout at the intersection of the Northern Highway and Epping-Kilmore Road (Wandong Road), 4km south of Kilmore.
In designing the roundabout we’ve considered the increasing demand on the road network, accommodating oversize overmass (OSOM) vehicles and the potential future growth of Mitchell Shire and surrounds.
The project provides for a dual-lane roundabout to meet the future needs of the intersection, reduce the potential for congestion and provide improved safety for all road users.
The design of the roundabout was being guided by the safe system standards for safer, smoother journeys and will provide a welcome improvement at this key intersection.
Next steps
We’re liaising with landowners of properties at the intersection to complete fencing and revised access arrangements
Some vegetation will need to be removed for construction of the roundabout. We’re working with key stakeholders on cultural heritage and environmental considerations
