Grange Burn bridge upgrade
The Grange Burn bridge strengthening project has delivered a stronger, safer structure on the Henty Highway, near Hamilton.
Complete
The Grange Burn bridge is part of a key freight route in regional Victoria, travelled by heavy vehicle traffic servicing the forestry, wind farm, mineral sands and dairy production industries. The upgrades have improved road safety and will facilitate higher mass vehicles, including superloads, for years to come.
In addition to the bridge works, the road approaches on both sides were rebuilt and a new pedestrian footpath was constructed.
Major bridge works were completed in May 2025, with full on-road access restored.
Minor works under the bridge will be completed in early June, and the carpark at the bridge reopened at this time.
This project is part of the Australian and Victorian government’s investment into the Green Triangle region.
Background
The Green Triangle region is a key freight route linking south-western Victoria, the Port of Portland, and the South Australian border.
The works will reinforce the structure to ensure strength and durability and to facilitate heavy vehicle movements, including superloads.
