Earl Street and Asquith Street maintenance
Planned
What we’re doing
We’re delivering vital maintenance works on Earl Street and Asquith Street between Tennyson Street and Belford Road in Kew.
These works will involve replacing layers of the road, asphalt resurfacing and line marking to restore the condition of the road surface.
When to expect us
Works are expected to take place over five weeks between January and March 2025.
We’ll be working at night to minimise traffic disruption and to keep our crews safe. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
Please note that dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions and the contractor’s program of works.
How will this work impact you?
- Lane and road closures on Earl Street and Asquith Street between Tennyson Street and Belford Road with signed detours in place. Please allow extra travel time during works.
- Periods of high noise levels, vibrations, and dust – we’ll work to minimise these impacts as much as possible.
- Crews use modern equipment to keep noise to a minimum, however, the works will unavoidably emit some noise and light. For the safety of road users and workers on site, reversing beepers are required on all machinery.
- Periods where parking within the work zone on Earl Street and Asquith Street will be restricted. We will contact affected property owners about temporary access restrictions and work to maintain access.
- Periods where sections of the footpath along Earl Street and Asquith Street will be closed. Please observe footpath closures and alternative route signage in place.
- A reduced speed limit during works to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.
This work is being delivered as part of the Victorian Government’s $964 million investment in the Victorian 2024-25 road maintenance program.
