Major works this winter

As part of Victoria’s Big Build, work on the West Gate Tunnel is nearing completion as work progresses to widen the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 lanes. Works continue to remove dangerous and congested level crossings, while road upgrades are in progress across the south east as part of Big Build Roads. 

Tunnelling continues on North East Link and work is underway to upgrade the Eastern Freeway and M80 Ring Road. Major construction has kicked off to prepare for tunnelling on Suburban Rail Loop East

These works will cause delays on key roads and surrounding areas. Be sure to plan ahead, allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.

June

St Kilda Road

• Disruption: Southbound closed between Domain Road and Park Street
• When: from 11pm Friday 13 June to 4:30am Monday 16 June.

Flinders Street

• Disruption: Eastbound lanes closed between Swanston and Elizabeth streets
• When: Until the end of June.

Little La Trobe Street

• Disruption: Closed between Swanston Street and Baskerville Lane
• When: Until end of June.

July

Franklin Street

• Disruption: Closed between Stewart and Swanston street
• When: Until end of July.

Southeast

June

Princes Freeway, Berwick

• Disruption: Citybound exit ramp to Clyde Road closed
• When: From June to November.

Princes Freeway, Berwick

• Disruption: Closed overnight in one or both directions under Clyde Road
• When: At times from mid-June to August.

Kingston Road, Heatherton

• Disruption: Closed in both directions from Golf View Road to Old Dandenong Road
• When: Each night from 8pm Monday 2 June to 6am Wednesday 4 June.

Kingston Road, Heatherton

• Disruption: Closed in both directions from Golf View Road to Old Dandenong Road
• When: Each night from 8pm Tuesday 17 June to 6am Thursday 19 June.

July

Clyde Road, Berwick

• Disruption: Entry ramp to the Princes Freeway Warragul-bound closed
• When: From July to October

Bald Hill Road and Racecourse Road/Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, Pakenham

• Disruption: Roundabout closed
• When: For one day in early July.

Bald Hill Road

• Disruption: Closed in both directions west of Racecourse Road/Healesville Koo Wee Rup Road
• When: From early July to early October.

August

Racecourse Road

• Disruption: Closed in both directions between Henry Street and Cameron Way
• When: For one day in early August.

Ferntree Gully Road, Notting Hill

• Disruption: Eastbound road closure and westbound lane closures between Gilby Road and Blackburn Road
• When: Each night from 8pm Monday 4 August to 5am Friday 8 August.

North

June

Epping Road, Wollert

• Disruption: Closed overnight between Craigieburn Road East/Lehmanns Road and Memorial Avenue
• When: At times from June to August.

Grimshaw Street, Watsonia North

• Disruption: Closed in one or both directions between Watsonia Road/Macorna Street and Adeline Street/William Street
• When: At times from June to August.

M80 Ring Road, Greensborough

• Disruption: Closed in one or both directions between Plenty Road and the Greensborough Bypass overnight
• When: At times from June to August.

M80 Ring Road, Greensborough

• Disruption: Altona-bound exit ramp to Plenty Road closed
• When: At times from June to August.

Plenty Road, Greensborough

• Closed: Entry ramp to M80 Ring Road Greensborough-bound closed
• When: At times from June to August.

• Disruptions: Closed in one or both directions between Grimshaw Street and Elder Street
• When: Overnight at times from July to August.

Lower Plenty Road, Rosanna

• Disruption: Closed in both directions between Greensborough Highway and Rosanna Road
• When: For two weekends in July.

Bulleen Road, Bullen

• Disruption: Closed in one or both directions between Manningham Road and Thompsons Road
• When: At times in July.

August

Cameron Street

• Disruption: Closed between Cozens Street and Peveril Street
• When: From 9pm Saturday 9 August to 11am Sunday 10 August.

West

June

M80 Ring Road, Sunshine West

• Disruption: Closed in one or both directions between the West Gate Freeway and Western Freeway
• When: Overnight at times from June to July.

Calder Park Drive

• Disruption: Closed at the level crossing. Detours in place via Kings Road and Melton Highway.
• When: From 1am Sunday 22 June to 6am Wednesday 23 July.

East

June

Burwood Highway, Burwood

• Disruption: Closed westbound from Peacock to McIntyre streets
• When: From 6pm 30 May to 7am 2 June.

Burwood Highway, Burwood

• Disruption: Closed eastbound from Elgar Avenue to Holland Avenue
• When: From 6pm 30 May to 7am 2 June.

July

Eastern Freeway, Balwyn North

• Disruption: Closed in one or both directions between Bulleen Road and Doncaster Road
• When: Overnight at times from July to August.

August

Eastern Freeway, Doncaster

• Disruption: Closed in both directions between Doncaster and Tram roads
• When: For one weekend in late August.
