COVID-19 industry support package
The Victorian Government is supporting the commercial passenger vehicle industry, ensuring the safety of drivers and vulnerable passengers relying on these services throughout the pandemic.
As part of a $22 million package, the Department of Transport will implement three programs for eligible booking service providers. Learn more about the full package on the Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria website.
Depot fee subsidy
More than $6 million will be invested to subsidise eligible booking service providers for the depot or affiliation fees paid by vehicle owners for the next three months to ensure wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available for those who need them.
For eligible recipients, the subsidy will be effective from 4 August 2020 and applied retrospectively.
To ensure the safety of all passengers and drivers, over $3 million worth of grants will be available to support increased cleaning and sanitation of vehicles across the state.
Strict new cleaning standards will be outlined for commercial passenger vehicles for drivers and booking service providers based on advice from the Department of Health and Human Services.
We’re establishing a $1 million regional essential service fund to support booking service providers in regional communities, ensuring vulnerable regional Victorians – including the elderly or people living with a disability – do not lose access to these vital services.
