Managing your AFSACS agreement
Find out how to pay your annual fee, change AFSACS agreement details, cancel your agreement, and add an associate technician.
Annual AFSACS fee
Each year, Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) will send you an invoice for payment of your annual AFSACS provider fee.
This fee covers you for one calendar year and must be paid before 1 January.
Fee type: Annual provider fee.
Cost: $421.00.
Costs displayed include GST.
Changing your details
As an AFSACS provider, if you make certain changes to your business – for example, your business name or your address – you need to advise DTP.
Changing your business details
Under the terms of an AFSACS agreement, providers need to notify DTP within 5 business days if there is any change to their provider details, including trading name, company name or your business address.
Moving to a different workshop site
If you are considering changing your workshop address, you must notify DTP prior to your move, who will assist you with making sure your new site is compliant with AFSACS requirements.
Work on vehicles fitted with gas fuel systems cannot occur at the new site until DTP has granted approval.
The new site must comply with all AFSACS facilities and equipment checklist.
Sites cannot be shared. If you have more than one site, each must be listed on an ASFACS agreement and each site must have all facilities and equipment required under an AFSACS agreement.
Changes to associate technicians
As an AFSACS provider, you must inform us immediately if an employee or contractor listed as an associate technician on your AFSACS agreement leaves your employment.
You can add associate technicians to your ASFACS agreement at any time.
How to tell us about any changes
You can advise DTP of these changes by emailing the Vehicle Safety Partners and Standards team on [email protected]
Ending your AFSACS agreement
You can terminate your AFSACS agreement at any time by giving DTP seven business days’ notice in writing.
At the time we receive your advice, we’ll advise you what steps you need to take to exit your AFSACS agreement.
You can advise DTP by emailing the Vehicle Safety Partners and Standards team on [email protected] or by mailing your notice to:
Vehicle Safety Partners and Standards
Department of Transport and Planning
GPO Box 2392

Adding an associate technician to your agreement
You can ask us to add an associate technician to your AFSACS agreement at any time.
To make this request, please send us the following completed and signed forms for each associate technician you would like to add:
Other requirements
- You must provide proof of each qualification specified in the applicant’s Schedule 3 form.
- The applicant must provide a national police check that is no less than three months old.
No technician will be approved to work on vehicles fitted with gas fuel systems until DTP has received all of the above documentation and has informed you in writing that the associate technician has been approved.
