World class sustainability rating for new DoT Ringwood office
One of Australia’s most energy efficient buildings will house our new Ringwood office, setting the standard for sustainable development and innovative office design.
The 13,000 square metre building in the centre of Ringwood has officially opened and is one of only a small number in the state to receive the prestigious 6-Star Greenstar Interiors (As Builts) accreditation
The Fender Kastilidis designed building boasts 100 per cent green energy utilisation - fully powered by a 50-kW solar panel on the rooftop that harnesses solar energy, while the 47kL rainwater tank promotes efficient use of water in the building.
The 6-Star Greenstar rating, interior fit out by the pvhGroup, showcases World Leadership for buildings that are fully powered by renewable energy while contributing to the community.
Our Executive Director Greater Metropolitan Alex Green said sustainability and innovative workspaces are a central theme of the building.
The new Department of Transport office sets the standard for energy efficiency reducing Victoria’s carbon footprint and energy costs,” Mr Green said.
We are really proud to provide a world-class workspace that will enhance productivity and encourage collaboration within the team.
The office is on the Maroondah Highway, just metres from the Ringwood station and bus interchange, putting staff at the centre of the transport network in Melbourne’s growing outer east.”
As well as offices for our staff, the building also houses the recently opened state-of-the-art VicRoads Customer Hub.
Construction delivered a big boost for Ringwood creating 200 jobs for the region over the past two years, while much of the furniture was sourced from local businesses.
