Road and rail disruptions in Mooroolbark and Lilydale
People travelling around Mooroolbark and Lilydale can expect some changes to road access and train services, as works continue to remove level crossings at Manchester Road, Mooroolbark and Maroondah Highway, Lilydale and construct two new stations at Lilydale and Mooroolbark.
The dangerous and congested level crossings will be gone for good and new stations open for passengers on Monday, 25 October.
Maroondah Highway/John Street, Lilydale
The Maroondah Highway/John Street level crossing in Lilydale will close from 9pm on Friday, 10 September until 6am on Saturday, 9 October.
The John Street rail bridge will also close during this time.
Detour via Cave Hill Road, Beresford Road, Gardiner Road and Anderson Road. Local traffic can use the John Street detour.
Brice Avenue, Mooroolbark
Brice Avenue, Mooroolbark will close east-bound between Manchester Road and George Street from Friday, 10 September until Monday, 25 October.
Manchester Road traffic can access Brice Avenue via Charles and Bathurst streets.
Manchester Road, Mooroolbark
Manchester Road, Mooroolbark will close at times between Brice Avenue and Winyard Drive during September and October.
Detour via Charles Street and Bathurst Street to Hull Road.
Reduced car parking will be available at Mooroolbark Station during this time. Alternative parking is available on Cardigan Street.
Lilydale line changes
Buses will replace trains on the Lilydale line between Ringwood and Lilydale from Friday, 10 September until Sunday, 24 October.
Passengers should allow extra travel time.
Lilydale station will also be closed to passengers from 10 September until 25 October and the western and eastern station car parks will also close during this time.
Mooroolbark station is currently closed and a new station will open on Monday, 25 October.
