Construction continues through winter
Road, rail and tram disruptions will take place across the state as construction on Victoria’s Big Build steams ahead through the cold months.
Works are underway at more than 20 level crossings sites, while significant progress is being made on 10 major road projects in Melbourne.
There’s also upgrades, and maintenance works taking place on nine major rail lines.
Tram track renewal work will close St Kilda Road to trams and traffic at the end of June and Swan Street, Richmond in August.
Buses will replace trains along sections of the Lilydale line between 19 and 24 July, and on sections of the Frankston line between 25 July and 1 August.
The South Gippsland Highway will close for three weeks starting in mid-July as crews work around the clock to build a new road bridge, which will open in August.
In the west, buses will replace trains from Williamstown to Newport from 20 August to 13 November as crews work to remove the Ferguson Street level crossing.
The $80 billion program of Big Build works is helping revitalise the economy, create more than 50,000 jobs and transform the way Victorians travel by making changes today, better transport tomorrow.
