Bigger, better VLocity trains

Regional passengers can now travel on bigger, more comfortable and reliable VLocity trains.

A VLocity train.

The existing VLocity fleet of 75 trains is being modified with wider toilet doors for wheelchair access, hearing loop technology, automatic announcements, new floor markings and handrails as part of the VLocity Refresh Project.

The modifications will pave the way for nine-car VLocity trains that can carry more people.

Investigations are under way to determine the works required at V/Line stations to accommodate the bigger trains.

Passengers on the Bendigo, Geelong, Ballarat, Gippsland and Seymour lines will also benefit from the first of 39 new VLocity carriages – with more seating, accessibility improvements and signal boosters to improve mobile phone coverage - that enter service in November.
