International and interstate driver's licences
Check licensing rules you must follow overseas and in other Australian states.
Make sure you know the rules before you use your current, valid Victorian licence in other states. Travelling overseas and will be driving a car? Make sure you know the rules for using an international driving permit.
If you're an interstate driver or visiting from overseas, there is information on this page for you.
Driving tests
In some cases, you may need to take a practical driving test to get a Victorian licence. If you fail the test, you can’t drive in Victoria using your overseas or interstate driver’s licence. This applies to all practical driving tests, including:
- car driving tests
- motorcycle learner permit skills assessments
- motorcycle licence tests
- heavy vehicle licence tests.
