Western Freeway, Rockbank maintenance works

What we're doing

We’re undertaking road maintenance works on a 2-kilometre section of the eastbound lane of the Western Freeway between Leakes Road off ramp and Hopkins Road off ramp.

Works will involve asphalt resurfacing to repair damaged areas and improve the condition of the road surface.

A full road closure of the eastbound lane is required whilst we carry out these important road maintenance works.

When to expect us

Crews will be working on the Western Freeway between Leakes Road off ramp and Hopkins Road off ramp from Sunday 11 February to Tuesday 13 February between 8pm and 5am, weather permitting.

During works the Western Freeway will be closed eastbound with a signed detour in place via Leakes Road off ramp, Leakes Road, Greigs Road, Hopkins Road to the Western Freeway on-ramp.

What to expect

• During nightworks, the Western Freeway will be closed eastbound between Leakes Road off-ramp and Hopkins Road off-ramp.
• Bus route 456 will be escorted through the work zone with assistance from traffic management controllers.
• Access for emergency services will be maintained.
• Medium - high noise levels.
• Some vibrations and dust around work areas while we remove the existing layer of the road, lay new asphalt, and reinstate the road.
• Up to 15-minute delays when moving through the area.
• Reduced speeds during works to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.
