Safer speeds and new electronic speed limit signs in Gembrook
We’re improving safety for road users and pedestrians along Main Street in Gembrook to reduce road trauma and save lives.
Project update - April 2024
We’ve introduced a safer 50km/h speed limit on Main Street in Gembrook between Gembrook-Launching Place Road and Bromby Street.
The new 50km/h speed limit will help improve safety for drivers and vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, and bike riders.
What's next
We will be installing four new electronic speed limit signs between Bromby Street and Banks-Smith Drive to increase visibility of the speed limit and the current school speed zone at Gembrook Primary School.
The current 40km/h school speed zone is in place from:
- 8am to 9.30am
- 2.30pm to 4pm
Works to install the electronic speed limit signs are expected to begin in mid-2024 and be completed in late-2024. Please note, these dates are subject to the contractor’s program of works.
We will be back in touch with the community with information before construction.
