Project status:

Planned

Joint funding of $11.25 million from the Australian Government ($5 million) and Victorian Government ($6.25 million).

Overview

Built in 1947, the aging timber Rainbow Creek bridge will be replaced with a new reinforced concrete bridge.

The new bridge will provide a safe and secure future road connection for the approximately 3000 vehicles that travel on Traralgon-Maffra Road each day, including commuters, local residents, emergency services, buses and freight.

Update - February 2024

Geotechnical Investigations

Geotechnical investigations will occur between 26 February 2024 and 4 March 2024 during 7am to 5pm each day.

The altered speed limit during operation will be 40kms and the traffic delay is expected to be up to five minutes. Please obey the temporary speed limit in the interests of our workers and other road users.

We’ll do our best to minimise any impacts on your journey.

Next steps

Planning activities and pre-construction assessments are currently being undertaken for the bridge replacement.

We’ll keep the community updated as the project progresses, including with construction timeframes.
