About the project

We made it safer for school kids, parents and teachers travelling to and from Glenallen School by introducing a safer school speed zone on Waverley Road between Glenwood Avenue and Richard Street in Glen Waverley.

To help ensure the speed change is clearly visible to motorists, 13 new speed limit signs were installed on Friday 15 March, 2024.

The new 40km/h speed limit is legally enforceable with the installation of these signs during the following times:

  • School drop off: 8am-9.30am
  • School pick up: 2.30pm-4pm

This new speed limit is legally enforceable during these times.

The new school speed zone will make it safer for pedestrians, children, parents, and teachers as they travel to and from local schools. 

Benefits 

School speed zones are reduced-speed areas that operate near schools. They are designed to keep kids safe by lowering the speed limit at peak times when children are travelling to and from school.
