Midland Highway and Howard Street Epsom

To support residential growth, increased commercial development and the expansion of the local primary school, the Victorian Government has invested $600,000 to plan for improvements at the intersection of Midland Highway and Howard Street.

Project status:

Planned

At this stage, the funding is for scoping and design only. We will seek funding for construction in future funding programs.

The aim of the project is to develop intersection upgrades that will:

  • improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, including school children walking and cycling to Epsom Primary School and those using bus services
  • provide safer turning movements for all vehicles
  • increase capacity and traffic flow at the intersection.

Separate developer funded works at Epsom Village - March 2024

As part of the approved planning permit for redevelopment of Epsom Village, the developer (National Retail Group) is constructing a dedicated left turning lane from Midland Highway to Howard Street. The works also include a dedicated left turning lane on Howard Street into Epsom Village to improve traffic flow in and around the area.

The developer works are expected to start in late March 2024 and take two months to complete, weather permitting. These road works are funded by the developer and aim to complement potential designs for the future development of the intersection.
