Grange Burn Creek Bridge upgrade
Planned
09/09/2024
This project is part of the Australian and Victorian government’s investment into the Green Triangle region.
Update – September 2024
Major works to upgrade the bridge will begin in October 2024 and are expected to take up to 10 months to complete.
Works will include:
- water main works
- earthworks
- strengthening the bridge and placing a new surface
- new barriers on the bridge and pedestrian path
- rebuilding the road on both bridge approaches and the pedestrian footpath
These works will allow higher mass vehicles to use the bridge and address structural deficiencies.
Please note: dates and timeframes of these works are dependent on a range of factors, including favourable weather and site conditions.
Disruptions
There will be changes in traffic conditions on the Henty Highway while these works are underway.
We understand these works will be disruptive and we thank you for your patience as we deliver this important project.
Crews will be on site from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm, with the possibility of some weekend work and nightworks.
There will be one lane open to traffic and a 40km/h speed limit in place to keep drivers and workers safe.
Traffic controllers will be on-site while works are underway, and temporary traffic lights will manage traffic at other times.
Traffic flow on the Henty Highway will be maintained at all times.
Oversize vehicles
Oversize vehicles more than 3.5 metres wide will be detoured, with signage in place to direct traffic. Further details on the detour route will be available on this webpage when confirmed.
Access
While access to residential properties and businesses will be retained, there will be periods of disruption to local roads and traffic flow.
The contractor will contact impacted residents directly should access be disrupted.
Background
The Green Triangle region is a key freight route linking south-western Victoria, the Port of Portland, and the South Australian border.
The works will reinforce the structure to ensure strength and durability and to facilitate heavy vehicle movements, including superloads.
