We’re upgrading Canterbury Road to improve traffic flow and ease congestion for those travelling through Bayswater towards Montrose.
Planned
Project background
Canterbury Road is a key corridor in Melbourne’s east. It is currently experiencing significant levels of congestion in the afternoon peak through Bayswater and Montrose with more than 30,000 vehicles travelling along the road each day.
In 2023, the Canterbury Road Upgrade project was considered as part of the independent strategic review of the Australian Government’s Infrastructure Investment Program. Following the outcome of the independent strategic review, planning of the Canterbury Road Upgrade is continuing.
Planning will continue to seek solutions to reduce congestion and travel times, improve safety and cater for population growth and increased vehicle movements.
