Berwick-Cranbourne Road maintenance

This will involve removing and replacing damaged layers of the road surface, asphalt resurfacing and line marking sections of Berwick-Cranbourne Road to help to restore the road back to its original standard.

Crews will work for 15 nights on Berwick-Cranbourne Road between Sunday 19 May to mid-June 2024 excluding Friday and Saturday nights, weather permitting.

Works will take place at 9pm to 5am to minimise traffic disruption and to keep crews safe.

What to expect during works

• Lane closures on southbound lanes on Berwick-Cranbourne Road with detours in place
• Left turn slip lane on Berwick-Cranbourne Road into Honour Avenue will be closed for up to five nights with detours in place
• Periods of high noise levels, vibrations, and dust – we’ll work to minimise these impacts as much as possible
• Access to properties will be kept open at all times
• No on-street parking in the work area 
• Changes to PTV bus routes and timetables are not expected
• Reduced speeds in the work area to keep crews and road users safe
• Traffic controllers will be on site to help road users travel around the work area safely
• Travel delays up to 10 minutes when detours are in place.

• Detours in place when Berwick-Cranbourne Road is closed between Kite Street and Honour Avenue in Clyde North
• Heavy vehicle detour via Greaves Road, Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road and Thompsons Road.

Big Build Roads is working in the area to upgrade Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road between Thompsons Road and the South Gippsland Highway to improve safety and reduce congestion in Cranbourne.

Big Build Roads is upgrading the Thompsons and Berwick-Cranbourne Road intersection in Clyde North.

Planning is progressing for the upgrade.

Development work is finished and a business case is completed. The business case examines the upgrade in detail to help inform government decision-making.
