Anniversary Trail - improving connectivity at Toorak Road

We’ve identified a missing link for the Anniversary Trail at Toorak Road and are investigating suitable design options to improve connectivity and safety for all users.

About the Project

The Victorian Government is investing $21.1 million over multiple years to continue supporting the implementation of active transport projects and initiatives across Victoria.

This includes funding to support development plans for the construction of a bridge with shared bike and walking lanes at Toorak Road, as part of the Anniversary Trail.

The Anniversary Trail is part of the Kew to Highett Strategic Cycling Corridor and provides an off-road Shared Use Path (SUP) of around 15km for bike riders and pedestrians alike. The trail links users to both the Yarra River and Gardiner’s Creek Trail, as well as providing access to stations on the Alamein Line.

Provide your feedback

Between 30 September 2022 and 28 October 2022 we sought community feedback on four potential design options.

The survey is now closed. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

The results of this early consultation will be shared by mid-late 2023, with a final design confirmed by late 2023.

Proposed Option 1

Redirect bike riders to avoid conflict with Toorak Road shops.

Proposed Option 2

Create SUP through the northern carpark and install a new signalised crossing.

Proposed Option 3

Construct a new SUP on the east side of the train line and install a new signalised crossing.

Proposed Option 4

Construct a SUP bridge over Toorak Road.
