Road closures for Melbourne Marathon: Sunday 15 October 2023
The Melbourne Melbourne is on Sunday 15 October 2023 with five main event distances – the 42.195km marathon/wheelchair marathon, the 21.1km half-marathon, 10km run, 5km run and 3km walk.

All courses will take in many of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks such as Melbourne’s Grand Slam Oval, Albert Park Lake, the MCG and the Botanical Gardens.
Road closures will be in place from 4am to allow the event to run safely. Road closures will be lifted in stages and all roads will be fully open by 2pm. Public transport services will also be affected.
Road closures
The following road closures will be in place for the Melbourne Marathon event.
Sunday 15 October - between 4am to 2pm.
Affected roads will be closed from 4am, including:
- Jolimont Road between Wellington Parade and Jolimont Street
- Brunton Avenue between Jolimont Street and Punt Road
- Batman Avenue between Olympic Boulevard and Flinders Street
- Sturt Street between Southbank Boulevard and Kavanah Street
- Beach Road between Bay Street to Head Street
- Hoddle Highway between Swan Street to Brunton Avenue
- Yarra Bank Highway between Fanning Street to Swan Street Bridge
- St Kilda Road southbound service lane between Southbank Boulevard and Anzac Avenue
- St Kilda Road northbound service lane and carriageway between Southbank Boulevard and Fitzroy Street
- Fitzroy Street inbound carriageway between St Kilda Road and Canterbury Road
- Albert Road between Canterbury Road and Kings Way
- Canterbury Road/Ferrars Street at Albert Road
