Traffic incident management

Traffic Management Points

Traffic Management Points (TMPs) are temporary road closures established during an emergency to protect the safety of people, and vehicles, travelling into an area affected by disasters such as a fire.

TMPs are set up to regulate the flow of traffic into an area where a disaster is occurring or has the potential to occur. In addition to ensuring the safety of the public and emergency services personnel, TMPs ensure emergency services personnel have priority access to combat or respond to an emergency.

A review of traffic management led to improved guidelines, a more flexible approach and a renewed commitment to reducing the impact of emergencies on communities and farmers/landowners.
