Educate employees and reduce risks posed by alcohol and or drugs in the workplace, including on the road.
As an employers, you have a duty of care towards employees and others in the workplace.
You are responsible for:
- making sure employees and others on the road are not exposed to unnecessary risks
- providing safety information, instruction, training and supervision to employees
- consulting with employees to reduce alcohol and drug related harm
- consistently and fairly applying policies.
The blood-alcohol limit is zero for drivers of heavy vehicles greater than 4.5 tonnes. Drivers face harsh penalties if they are caught drink-driving.
