Port of Melbourne heavy vehicle maps
View road access maps and information for heavy vehicles within the Port of Melbourne.
View the access maps showing roads in the Port of Melbourne that can be used by:
- container vehicles
- vehicles operating under the port low loader scheme
- Super B-doubles.
In some areas, the NHVR maps may not show all data yet.
How to use the maps
Road colour definitions:
- Green roads are available to approved vehicles.
- Yellow roads are conditionally available to approved vehicles. Click the road to view conditions of use.
- Red roads are restricted. Click the road to view conditions of use.
Access to roads marked in red and all other roads requires a permit from the road manager, except where signed detours are in place.
Use map layers to view:
- road closures
- traffic alerts
- roadworks
- detours or events
- height limits (read more about height clearance on roads).
Check your route for disruptions before travelling.
Container vehicles

The map shows roads that semi-trailers transporting containers up to 48 tonnes can use.

Port low loader scheme
View the port low loader scheme network map.
The map shows roads that can be used by class 3 heavy vehicles transporting flat racks and open top containers.
You must have an annual permit from the NHVR to operate eligible heavy vehicles on this network.

Super B-doubles
View network maps of pre-approved roads for the following super B-doubles:
- Tri-axle and tri-axle combinations up to 101.0 tonnes
- Quad-axle and quad-axle combinations up to 108.0 tonnes
- Quad-axle and tri-axle combinations up to 109.0 tonnes
- Quad-axle and quad-axle combinations up to 117.0 tonnes.
You need a permit from the NHVR to operate eligible heavy vehicles on this network.
The maximum dimensions for super B-doubles are:
- 4.3 metres high
- 2.5 metres wide
- 30 metres long.
