Agricultural zones and vehicle limits
Oversize and/or Overmass agricultural vehicles legally operate at different dimensions across four distinct agricultural zones in Victoria.
To identify Victoria’s agricultural vehicle zones and to appreciate the legal maximum allowable dimensions and mass limits, please take the time to review both the zones and their boundaries (noting that roads that are the boundary default to the greater dimension allowance).
Table 1 outlines the zones, and the areas within them, table 2 shows maximum dimensions within these zones, and table 3 shows the mass limits applying to all vehicles within this class.

Note: Zone 2 increase from 3.5 metres wide to 3.7 metres wide in the new National Notice. All other dimensions remain as they are.
Zone 3 currently covers a small section of Victoria (the Bellarine Peninsula). Zone 3 dimensions will also be used in the future as a way of creating a buffer between Zones 2 and 4 as well as cases where Zone 1 and 4 share a common border.
Agricultural implements that are agricultural trailers are restricted to a width limit of 3.0 metres in Zones 2, 3 and 4. Remember, an agricultural trailer is a trailer built exclusively for agricultural purposes that carries a load and includes comb trailers, mother bins, sprayers and silage trailers.
Conditional Mass limits
The mass of an agricultural vehicle or combination operating under the National Notice must not exceed:
- 45.0 tonnes; or
- the mass of a single axle or axle group in Table 3 below.
