Moving around Melbourne

The Victorian Transport Plan outlines projects to link our communities by closing gaps, reducing congestion and improving safety on our road network.

We will build on the success of completed projects like Eastlink and continue those underway such as the M1 Monash-Citylink-West Gate Upgrade to:

  • Overcome congestion in Frankston and link the growing Mornington Peninsula to the south-east with Peninsula Link
  • Plan for an alternative to the West Gate Bridge with a three kilometre road tunnel link between Geelong / Sunshine Road and Dynon / Footscray Road
  • Undertake detailed planning for North East Link – a seamless connection between the Eastern Freeway at Bulleen and the Metropolitan Ring Road in Greensborough with plans to build the link in the medium term
  • Complete the next section of the Dingley Arterial between Perry Road and Springvale Road
  • Investigate grade separating key junctions on Hoddle Street
  • Duplicate Clyde Road in Berwick
  • Build better outer suburban roads with a $1.9 fund for arterial upgrades including new bus, cycling and pedestrian facilities
