Track Record

Customer Service Charters

Victoria's major train and tram operators are required to have Customer Service Charters that clearly define their responsibilities and obligations and provide important information and advice to customers.

Online versions of the Yarra Trams, Connex trains and V/Line trains charters are also available from their websites.
Review of Arrangements for Authorised Officers Employed by Public Transport Operators

In May 2002, the Victorian Parliamentary Law Reform Committee released a report on its inquiry into the Powers of Entry, Search, Seizure and Questioning by Authorised Persons. This included examining the powers of public transport ticket inspectors, resulting in 19 recommendations specifically relating to reforming the powers exercised by Authorised Officers employed by public transport operators. In response, Government commissioned a review by independent consultant, Rob McQuillen.

Downie Consulting was commissioned by the State Government in 2002 to undertake an independent audit of Melbourne's Automatic Ticketing System.

The Miller Network Group was commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure to undertake an independent audit of Melbourne's automated ticketing system in May 2001. The audit comprised the collection and analysis of data on the operational state of ticketing equipment and a review of the Automated Ticketing System contracts.
