Department of Infrastructure, State Government of Victoria, Australia.

Changes to bus stops in Lonsdale Street

The Department is making changes to bus stops along Lonsdale Street in preparation for the introduction of the Doncaster Area Rapid Transit System (DART).

Please note: the consultation period for these changes is now complete and changes have been approved in principle by the Department of Transport and Melbourne City Council.

The Department, in conjunction with the City of Melbourne, has reviewed the bus stops along Lonsdale Street and will make the following changes to improve operational efficiency and provide more user-friendly bus services:

  • Consolidation of a number of stops along the street, including the removal of some stops and installation of new stops
  • Increase the capacity at each stop by doubling the number of bus bays
  • Allow all bus services to be available at every stop along the street

The following diagrams show existing and planned bus stops, as well as planned bus stop removal:
Improvements will be made to bus stops, including compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1992, to ensure that buses have easier and safer access to passengers.
